The best question to ask yourself

Seven years ago I asked myself a question that changed my life. Prompted by Deepak Chopra's book 'The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success', I wondered, If I had infinite time and money, what would I do? The answers bubbled up: 1. Leave the city and live on a sprawling country estate. 2. Write a funny, romantic novel that teaches the reader how to write a novel, starring a central character who's trying to write a novel, like me. In fact, why not write about a fictionalised version of myself? The greatest story is one's own, after all. (If you disagree, perhaps you just need to work on your story a bit.) Finally, why not open this reality-writing experience to everyone in the world? Create a template so that anyone can use my book as a base on which to write their own Wildest Dreams Life Story. Well?

So I did it. The weird thing is this: as I wrote my novel, the imaginary scenes, places and experiences I described started manifesting in my real life. Freaky? Fabulous? I call it the power of fiction.

This month, the first instalment of The Peacock Book Project launches. Join me for a literary adventure of a lifetime. http://www.peacockproject.net/
